Custom Multi-Jet Fusion (MJF) at Mucision

Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) is a cutting-edge industrial 3D printing technology that chemically fuses powder materials to fabricate robust, accurate, and intricately detailed parts. Primarily employed for end-use manufacturing, MJF offers a cost-effective solution for low to medium-volume production of functional 3D-printed components. By eliminating expensive tooling, MJF fosters production flexibility, facilitating cost-efficient customization and high-volume batch manufacturing.
MJF’s exceptional dimensional accuracy and capability to achieve fine details make it an advanced additive manufacturing solution. Detailing agents enhance resolution, resulting in sharp edges, thin walls, and small features. This precision caters to designers’ needs for high-quality, complex geometries with consistent mechanical properties throughout each part.

Advantages of MJF

Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) boasts numerous advantages, with a few key highlights. Firstly, standard build parameters are fine-tuned for optimal density, ensuring watertight parts.
For those seeking higher quantities in small-batch production runs, MJF outshines SLS. Its ability to print multiple parts simultaneously across the entire build volume enables printing rates up to 10 times faster than SLS or other 3D printing processes. Additionally, MJF offers more balanced mechanical properties across the X, Y, and Z axes compared to SLS, making it a superior choice for performance-driven applications.

SLS Finishes Available at Mucision

SLS parts are de-powdered with a sandblasting process and manual powder removal. Internal holes may be drilled to size if accessible. The finish is white matte (fine sugar-cube).

With a variety of color options, including black, blue, green, red, and yellow, the dye penetrates approximately 0.010 inches deep. While batch-to-batch consistency may slightly differ, black offers the highest uniformity, ensuring reliable and aesthetically pleasing results for diverse applications.
AMT PostPro3D is an advanced automated post-processing technology that delivers a superior surface finish. Vapor smoothing transforms surfaces from matte to semi-gloss while sealing and enhancing mechanical properties, ensuring consistent and aesthetically pleasing results for production. Additionally, vapor-smoothed components can be dyed, further expanding their versatility and customization options.

The Standard finish undergoes abrasive media tumbling, reducing visible grow lines and softening sharp edges. This process results in an eggshell finish that provides a smoother and more refined appearance compared to untreated surfaces, improving overall aesthetics and tactile appeal.

Mucision provides additional SLS finishing and customization options upon request.

 MJF Materials Selection

Nylon PA12 (PA 2200) is a highly versatile polyamide material offering a uniform surface finish and exceptional resolution, perfect for intricate feature details. Ideal for functional prototyping and end-use applications requiring complex thin-walled parts, chemical resistance, snap fits, and low vibration resistance, PA 2200 demonstrates impressive performance. Additionally, PA 2200 complies with biocompatibility standards EN ISO 10993-1 and USP/Level VI/121 °C, ensuring safe use in various industries.

Black PA12 is a high-performance polyamide material infused with black dye, delivering a consistent matte black surface finish and exceptional resolution for intricate feature details. Perfect for functional prototyping and end-use applications that require complex thin-walled parts, chemical resistance, snap fits, and low vibration resistance with a sleek black finish, Black Nylon PA 12 offers unparalleled performance and aesthetics.

Nylon ESD is a high-performance Nylon12 polyamide infused with a permanent electrostatic dissipative coating, effectively minimizing electrostatic charge risks. Coated with 844AR Aerosol by MG chemicals, the material cures at room temperature without cracking, peeling, or chipping during regular usage, ensuring reliable performance and safety.

Nylon Glass Filled (GF) is a glass filled polyamide material ideal for creating exceptionally stiff & hard parts for both prototyping and functional end-use applications. This type of Nylon is best for applications that require high heat resistance and dimensional stability. The unique glass filled infill helps prevent warping and breaking making it a great material for creating large functional parts.

TPU 88A is a robust, flexible, and resilient material that offers exceptional surface quality and intricate detail, making it ideal for a wide range of applications.
